We believe that as American firefighters we must assume our duties and responsibilities and assert our rights and privileges in the pursuit of the highest possible quality of fire protection for our respective communities.

We believe that education and training are the foundation for attaining the highest quality of fire protection in our community. We must secure the respect of our departments for the cultural resources we bring to the fire service. We must deplore any infringement on our rights as Americans or in our respective fire departments wherever it may occur and regardless of whom it may affect.

We accept that it is not only a privilege serving as firefighters in the public service but an obligation of every member of this organization to uphold and defend the rights and duties vested in every American citizen by the letter and spirit of the law of the land.
