BrewDog's End of History was a highly anticipated beer release that sparked a lot of excitement in the craft beer community.

In 2017, BrewDog announced the End of History beer, a 41.4% ABV double IPA that was designed to be the strongest beer in the world.

BrewDog's founders, James Watt and Martin Dickie, have a reputation for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in beer.

The End of History beer was brewed in collaboration with the Swedish brewery, Omnipollo, and was released in limited quantities to select BrewDog bars and online.

Strongest Beer Challenge

In 2010, we brewed an ultra-limited 55% abv beer called The End of History, which sold out in just 4 hours.

This beer was made with 7 dead stoats, 4 squirrels, and 1 hare, and each bottle cost £500-£700 depending on the size of the animal it was stored in.

It was intended to be served in a shot or whiskey glass, enjoyed like a fine whiskey.

The beer was infused with nettles from the Scottish Highlands and fresh juniper berries.

Only 12 bottles were made, each coming with its own certificate and presented in a stuffed stoat or grey squirrel.

The striking packaging was created by a very talented taxidermist, using road kill animals.

In 2016, we brought back The End of History as an exclusive for US Equity Punks who invested more than $20,000 to help open our brewery in Columbus.

This time, it was also to celebrate the repeal of Ohio's Bill 37, which removed the 12% ABV limit on beers made and sold in the state.

Industry Developments

In the craft beer industry, the rise of brew dogs has been a significant development in recent years. Brew dogs are a type of dog that has been specifically bred to assist brewery owners and staff with tasks such as cleaning and sampling beer.

The popularity of brew dogs has led to an increase in demand for dog-friendly brewery spaces. According to the article, the number of breweries that allow dogs on their premises has risen by 25% in the past year.

With more breweries welcoming dogs, the need for dog-friendly amenities has grown. Many breweries now offer dog beds, water stations, and even dog treats for their canine customers.

The trend of brew dogs has also led to the creation of new jobs, such as "brewery dog handlers" and "dog beer tasters." These roles are designed to care for the dogs and ensure they are happy and healthy in their new roles.

As the industry continues to evolve, it's likely that we'll see even more innovative uses for brew dogs in the future.

2014 - Enemies

In 2014, BrewDog found itself at odds with the Portman Group, a UK organization that regulates the labeling of alcoholic beverages. They were accused of encouraging anti-social behavior and rapid drinking through the labeling of Dead Pony Club IPA, which highlighted the beer's strength and intoxicating effects.

BrewDog responded to this criticism by creating a beer called Hello My Name is Vladimir, with a label featuring a picture of Russian President Vladimir Putin saying it was "not for gays". This move was likely a protest against Moscow's crackdown on homosexuality ahead of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

The Portman Group's criticism of BrewDog's labeling practices was a significant challenge for the company, as it threatened to damage their reputation and sales.
