Caucasian Shepherds are a majestic breed, but unfortunately, many end up in shelters due to various reasons such as neglect, abuse, or their owner's inability to provide proper care.

In the United States alone, it's estimated that over 3.2 million dogs are taken in by shelters each year, and Caucasian Shepherds are among them.

Rescuing a Caucasian Shepherd can be a life-changing experience for both the dog and the rescuer.

These dogs are highly intelligent and thrive on mental and physical stimulation, making them perfect companions for active families or individuals.

Dogs in Need of Rescue

Caucasian Ovcharka Rescue UK, based in Burnley, is the first rescue centre dedicated to helping the breed. They are currently caring for two two-year-old Caucasian Ovcharkas.

These dogs were bred to care for flocks and defend the home against wild predators in the rough Caucasus Mountain region. They are described as fierce family protectors.

Their move to a new home has to be done very slowly and methodically to earn their trust. Once you earn their trust, they're easy to work with.

It's hard to find one home for a Caucasian Ovcharka, and even harder to find a home for two. They are quite dominant.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help transport, rehabilitate, and rehome the dogs.
