Adopting a Dachshund

Adopting a Dachshund is a straightforward process that ensures a safe and successful adoption for both you and the dog. We'll guide you through it.

We'll ask you to complete a friendly screening process, which typically takes a week. This process includes filling out an Adoption Application, which is the first step.

The board will review your application within 5 days, and then we'll have a brief conversation with you to discuss your needs and preferences. You'll also need to provide information about your daily schedule and your previous experience with pets.

You MUST have a fenced yard, and all personal pets must be spayed/neutered. We'll also check with your veterinarian to ensure that previous pets have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and that you use heartworm prevention.

If you're a renter, we'll check with your landlord to ensure that dogs are permitted and that the dog you're adopting will not violate any size or breed restrictions. We'll also visit your home to see the environment where the dog will live.

Our adoption fees vary by dog, starting at $250 and going up. All puppy adoptions start at $650 and up. Please note that if you're caught with any false information, your application will be automatically denied.

Here's a summary of the adoption process:

  1. Filling out an Adoption Application
  2. The board reviews your application within 5 days
  3. A brief conversation to discuss your needs and preferences
