Jeffery Street Park
Jeffery Street Park is a fantastic off-leash area in Whitby, and I'm excited to share its features with you.
This park is conveniently located just south of the 401 near the Lake Ridge Road exit on Jeffery Street. It's easily accessible and a great option if you're traveling through the area.
The park has a double corral style entrance with a small dog exercise area and a larger dog area, both fully fenced for safety.

There's free parking for about 30 vehicles, and the entrance is located just north of the parking lot. You'll also find trash bins and a poop bag dispenser at the entrance.
The total size of this off-leash dog park is about 115m x 100m, with a small forested area and a hill for dogs to run and play.
Here are some of the park's notable features:
- Fully fenced
- Large dog park (about 115m x 100m) with a small dog area (20m x 40m)
- Free parking next to entrance
- Lots of picnic tables and chairs
- Metal water bowls
- Forested area with mature trees and lots of shade
- Open area with hill and gravel path
The park's drainage is great, and the gravel path through the park makes it easy to keep your feet mud-free. Even after a heavy rainstorm, the grass area was relatively dry.
Port Perry
Port Perry is home to a fantastic off-leash dog park that's a must-visit for any dog owner.
The park is fully fenced, providing a safe space for dogs to run around without worrying about escaping.
You'll find two separate areas for dogs: a large main area and a smaller area for smaller dogs.

There's also free parking available in the parking lot adjacent to the park, making it easy to get in and out.
A nice mix of open space and forest surrounds the park, offering a pleasant atmosphere for both dogs and their owners.
Dog bowls are available for water, so you don't have to worry about bringing your own.
The park's main area has chair seating throughout, giving owners a comfortable place to hang out while their dogs play.
The park is located just by the arena, across from the baseball diamonds, making it easily accessible.
New Off Leash Area
Durham is getting a new dog park, but it's not going to be a large one - it'll be a "neighborhood-maintained" park modeled after a small one at Roxboro and Elliot streets.
The park is expected to open next spring.
You'll have two weeks to get into the habit of picking up your dog's poo, as a new pet-waste ordinance goes into effect after September 14, with fines ranging from $50 to $150.
That's a lot of dog poop - 35,263.5 pounds are produced in Durham County each day.
