English Bulldogs
English Bulldogs are a beloved breed, known for their gentle and affectionate nature. They are often described as "laid-back" and "easy-going", making them a great fit for families with children.
On average, English Bulldogs weigh between 40-55 pounds and stand between 10-14 inches tall at the shoulder. Their short, easy-to-maintain coats come in a variety of colors, including brindle, fawn, and white.
Despite their sturdy appearance, English Bulldogs are prone to health issues such as respiratory problems and skin infections due to their flat faces and skin folds.
Description
Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR) is a licensed Illinois shelter and a 501c3 charitable organization that has been helping pure-bred bullies and their families for over 5 years.
CEBR has a large service area, covering Chicago-proper and the surrounding suburbs, the state of Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and Southeast Wisconsin including Milwaukee.
This rescue organization has rehomed over 650 bullies and counseled hundreds of families to provide support, encouragement, and training consults.
CEBR has a dedicated group of 100 volunteers who enable the rescue to respond to an increased need for their services, including puppy mill, dog auction, and large scale surrender situations.
The national economic downturn has presented unexpected challenges for CEBR, resulting in an unprecedented rise in bulldog surrenders from both owner families and animal care and control organizations.

Our Story
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing English Bulldogs in need. Our mission is to provide a safe haven for these lovable dogs until they find their forever homes.
Our journey began in 2010, when a group of passionate animal lovers came together to form a rescue group specifically focused on English Bulldogs. We saw a need for a dedicated rescue group in the Chicago area and worked tirelessly to establish ourselves as a trusted resource for bulldog owners and enthusiasts.
Our organization is run entirely by volunteers, who work hard to ensure the health and well-being of every bulldog in our care. We are proud to have saved over 500 bulldogs to date, and we continue to strive for excellence in our rescue efforts.
Mission Statement
At the heart of our organization is a clear and compassionate mission statement that guides everything we do. Our top priority is to provide care for English Bulldogs in need, whether they're facing neglect, homelessness, medical issues, or behavioral challenges.

We focus on matching homeless English Bulldogs with qualified adopters within our adoption radius. This ensures that these beautiful dogs find loving homes where they can thrive.
We also strive to create a community among our adopters and members, where they can share knowledge and resources about English Bulldogs. This network is essential for our members to stay informed and engaged.
One of the key issues we address is the problem of overpopulation in animal shelters. By promoting spaying and neutering, we aim to reduce the number of unwanted litters and prevent more animals from ending up in shelters.
We're passionate about educating the public about the importance of adopting from shelters and rescuing animals in need. By doing so, we can reduce the demand for puppies from unqualified breeders and create a more compassionate society.
We believe that our volunteers are the backbone of our organization, and we're committed to providing a rewarding and positive environment for them to work in.
My Story

I was born in a small town surrounded by rolling hills and vast farmland. Our family farm was a staple of the community, providing fresh produce to local markets.
Growing up on the farm taught me the value of hard work and the importance of taking care of the land. This experience shaped my perspective and influenced my decisions.
I recall helping my parents with the harvest, learning about the different crops and their growth cycles. We would plant seeds in the spring, tend to them throughout the summer, and harvest them in the fall.
The farm was a place of wonder and discovery, where I developed a deep appreciation for the natural world. This foundation has stayed with me throughout my life.
I remember the smell of freshly cut hay and the taste of ripe fruits and vegetables, straight from the fields. These simple pleasures have stayed with me to this day.

The farm was not just a place of work, but also a place of community. We would host farm-to-table dinners, where neighbors and friends would come together to share in the bounty of the land.
These experiences have had a lasting impact on my life, shaping my values and informing my decisions.
