Getting your furry friend vaccinated is one of the best decisions you can make as a responsible dog owner.

Vaccinations protect your dog from serious diseases that can be fatal.

There are many types of vaccinations available, but some are more important than others.

Core vaccinations include rabies, distemper, and parvovirus, which are highly contagious and can be deadly.

Non-core vaccinations, on the other hand, are optional and may not be necessary for all dogs.

Free Vaccination Shots for Dogs

Planned PEThood of GA is partnering with Petco Love to offer free pet vaccines to all patients through the end of February.

Parvovirus and distemper in dogs are some of the most prevalent deadly diseases impacting pets that are preventable with a simple vaccine.

The free vaccines are made possible through Petco Love's new national vaccination initiative, which is providing 1 million free pet vaccines to its existing animal welfare partners.

DAPPv Canine vaccines will be distributed through the Petco Love initiative, and they do require a veterinarian exam ($15-$25) or surgery at the time of vaccination.

The goal is to vaccinate 3,000 pets through this effort, and Planned PEThood of GA aims to make a significant impact in the community.

Susanne Kogut, Petco Love President, said it's heartbreaking when any pet suffers or dies from a disease that could have been prevented, and unvaccinated pets coming into busy shelter kennels can spread deadly diseases quickly.

Pet Vaccines Distribution Continues

The distribution of free vaccination shots for dogs is ongoing in many parts of the country.

These shots are available to all dogs, regardless of their age or health status.

The vaccination program aims to immunize at least 80% of the dog population within the next two years.

Local veterinarians are working closely with health officials to ensure the shots are administered safely and effectively.

The program is funded by a combination of government grants and private donations.
