Karma dog training is a holistic approach that focuses on understanding the dog's perspective and emotions. This method encourages empathy and patience, helping you build a stronger bond with your furry friend.

Karma dog training is based on the idea that dogs are not just animals, but sentient beings with their own thoughts and feelings. By acknowledging this, you can develop a deeper understanding of your dog's behavior and needs.

The core principles of karma dog training include positive reinforcement, consistency, and clear communication. By using these principles, you can create a safe and supportive environment for your dog to thrive.

By adopting a karma dog training approach, you can expect to see improvements in your dog's behavior, such as reduced anxiety and increased confidence.

Training Methods

Karma Dog Teachers use only science-based, 100% positive reinforcement training methods.

These methods are endorsed by the AHA, HSUS, SPCA, ASPCA, and most Schools of Veterinary Medicine.

No shock collars, "vibration" collars, "e" collars, prong collars, or choke collars are used.

The Veterinarian Community endorses Karma Dog Training's methods as the most gentle and effective behavior shaping techniques available.

Getting Started

The first few weeks with a new puppy are a critical time for bonding, and it's essential to establish a strong connection with your pup during this "imprinting period". This is the most important time in a young puppy's life for behavior specialists.

The bonding process sets the foundation for your puppy's behavior and training, and it's a time when they're most receptive to new experiences and learning. By doing things right from the start, you'll save yourself a lot of headaches down the line.

To maximize the effectiveness of your puppy's training, it's best to train them in their own home environment. This is where they feel most comfortable and secure, and it's where they'll learn best.

Puppy Kindergarten

Puppy Kindergarten is a critical period in a puppy's life, and it's essential to get it right. This is because puppies between 6 weeks and 16 weeks of age need to learn social etiquette and bite inhibition to develop properly.

Veterinarians recommend Puppy Kindergarten classes to ensure puppies learn these essential skills. These classes replicate the litter environment that puppies are normally removed from, which is crucial for their development.

The critical imprinting period in a puppy's life is between 6 weeks and 16 weeks, and this is when they need to be socialized the most. If they're not properly socialized during this time, they may develop aggression and anxiety issues later in life.

Puppy Kindergarten classes are also a great way to bond with your puppy and establish a strong relationship. This is because the bonding process between you and your puppy is a critical time in their life, and it's essential to get it right.

Here are the 7 Requests for Success that puppies learn in Puppy Kindergarten classes:

  1. Watch me
  2. Stay
  3. Come
  4. Down
  5. Loose leash walking
  6. Leave it
  7. Go to your bed

In addition to Puppy Kindergarten classes, it's also essential to provide a safe and healthy environment for your puppy to learn and grow. This includes regular veterinary check-ups, proper vaccinations, and a safe and clean living space.

Puppies that attend Puppy Kindergarten classes and receive proper vaccinations are at no greater risk than those that don't attend classes. In fact, studies have shown that puppies vaccinated at least once prior to starting Puppy Kindergarten classes are just as safe as those that don't attend classes.

At Karma Dog Training, our philosophy is centered around building strong relationships between dogs and their owners. We believe that every dog has the potential to be a great companion, and our approach is focused on helping owners understand and connect with their pets on a deeper level.

Our training methods are based on positive reinforcement, which means we use rewards and praise to encourage good behavior rather than punishment or fear. This approach is essential for building trust and confidence in our dogs, as it allows them to feel safe and secure in their environment.

We also recognize that every dog is unique and has their own personality, needs, and quirks. By taking the time to understand and appreciate these individual differences, we can tailor our training approach to meet the specific needs of each dog and owner.

Basic Communication

At the heart of our training philosophy is the concept of Basic Communication. Typically, our Basic Communication Classes Level 1 are designed for dogs 5 months of age and up.

Puppy Shots: Safety of Early Socialization

Dr. Ian Dunbar, a Veterinarian and Animal Behavior PhD, emphasizes the "extreme urgency" of safely socializing your puppy just after they come home during the critical period of social development.

The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) stresses the importance of proper timing for socialization, warning of possible adverse effects from delaying the process.

Puppies vaccinated at least once prior to starting puppy classes are at no more risk than vaccinated puppies who don't attend classes, according to a study by the Journal of The American Animal Hospital Association.

To keep puppies safe, Puppy Kindergarten Classes use Top Performance 256 disinfectant, the same used by Veterinarians to disinfect their clinics, and sanitize the bottom of each client's shoes upon entering the classroom.

If your puppy has less than 3 rounds of shots, it's recommended to carry them into the class. All clients must also sanitize their shoes before entering the puppy classroom area.

Here are the guidelines to keep puppies safe:

  • Carry your puppy into the class if they have less than 3 rounds of shots.
  • Sanitize your shoes before entering the puppy classroom area.
