Pekinese rescue organizations work tirelessly to find forever homes for these adorable dogs.

Pekinese are a popular breed, but their small size and big personalities make them prone to being abandoned or surrendered to shelters.

Many Pekinese in shelters are young, with some as young as six months old, waiting for a loving family to take them in.

These dogs are often in need of basic care, such as vaccinations and spaying/neutering, which rescue organizations provide before adoption.

Pekingese Rescue Stories

A 3-month-old Pekingese puppy fell into an open floor vent on the third floor of a townhome, getting stuck in the ductwork.

The puppy, weighing about 5 pounds, slipped after jumping down from a bed and disappeared in the townhome's ducts.

Rescue crews from South Metro Fire Rescue and Plumbline Services responded to the call and worked tirelessly to locate the puppy.

It took about three hours to figure out the puppy's exact location in the pipes, with rescuers drilling several holes in the home's walls and ceiling to no avail.

A camera was eventually slid into the ductwork, allowing the crew to locate the puppy and pull it out safely.

The puppy, named Archie, was thankfully not injured in the ordeal.
