The Pekingese has a rich history of success in dog shows. They've been recognized as a distinct breed since 1906.

One of the most notable Pekingese dog show champions is Ch. Lord Raglan, who won the Best in Show title at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 1906.

Pekingese Dog Show Winners

Malachy, the four-year-old Pekingese, won the prestigious U.S. dog show, the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, beating a Dalmatian, a German Shepherd, a Dachshund, and three other canines.

He was the first Pekingese to win the event since 1990 and had won 115 best-in-show titles prior to his victory.

Malachy's handler, David Fitzpatrick, described him as "dignified, devoted, and a wonderful companion."

Fitzpatrick noted that Malachy's gate should be slow and dignified, which he achieved by trotting at a deliberate pace.

Malachy's win was announced to a packed Madison Square Garden arena crowd, who roared their approval.

He was described by Judge Cindy Vogels as "a super dog who had a stupendous night" and "spectacular."

Wasabi, another Pekingese, won Best in Show at the American Kennel Club National Championship Presented by Royal Canin, beating over 5,200 dogs.

He was just 18 months old and had started his show-dog career, but still managed to take home the top prize.

Wasabi's handler, David Fitzpatrick, said he was confident that Wasabi was destined to be a winner from an early age.

Fitzpatrick noted that Wasabi's family history of winners, including his grandad who won Best in Show back in 2012 at Westminster, gave him an edge.

Wasabi's secret to his beautiful coat is his Isle of Dogs shampoo, and Fitzpatrick spends up to an hour a day grooming and brushing out his long locks.
