The event, hosted by the Vanderpump Dogs Foundation, was cancelled in December 2023 to ensure the health and wellness of dogs following a severe upper respiratory virus affecting dogs.

World Dog Day is a celebration of dogs while raising awareness about global dog abuse, specifically the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China.

Over 10,000 dogs are reported to be captured, transported in cages, and killed for human consumption every year for this annual event.

More than 10 million dogs are killed annually in China for the dog meat trade.

The first World Dog Day Event was produced and hosted by The Vanderpump Dog Foundation in 2016 in West Hollywood Park.

Past events have had roughly 4,000 attendees and approximately 2,500 dogs with their guardians to celebrate the big day.

Graham was then adopted by Lisa Vanderpump, who offered to rehabilitate him and find him a good home.

Vanderpump Dogs Rescue picked up Graham on July 13, and thankfully, he was eventually reunited with James.

James shared a heartwarming photo with Graham on Instagram, celebrating their reunion with the caption "Look who made his way back home, back into my life, I’ll take care of you forever and I love you."

Graham was initially placed with a trainer, but unfortunately, he bit both the trainer and her husband, leading to a new placement. Graham was then placed with a new owner, but he bit them again, resulting in his return to a rescue.

Vanderpump Dogs stepped in to help Graham, offering financial assistance and eventually adopting him. James was overjoyed to be reunited with Graham, and the two are now happy together.
