Rules and Regulations

At Sam Houston Track, we take the safety and well-being of our furry friends very seriously, which is why we have a set of rules and regulations in place to ensure a fun and enjoyable experience for all.

All decisions regarding the call and placement/advancement of racers are made by the track staff and are final.

To participate, your dog must have current shots, including DHPP, Rabies, and Bordatella vaccines, and you'll need to provide current shot records upon check-in.

Races are assigned based on the order of receipt of a complete registration form, and the draw is conducted randomly to determine preliminary race heats.

Each dog's name is entered into the draw once you've checked in and provided your pup's shot records.

You'll need to bring a completed registration form, which will be provided at check-in, to ensure a smooth check-in process.

Only one dog per two humans is allowed to participate, with a maximum of two owners/handlers per dog in the racetrack area.

You'll need to bring your dog's favorite toy, but make sure it's no bigger than 8 inches, and no waving blankets or large items are allowed at the start of the race.

All dogs must be on a leash when on property, except when they're in the starting gate or after the completion of their heat.

You're responsible for cleaning up after your dog, so be sure to bring plastic waste bags and take advantage of the potty station and water provided in the biergarten.

We expect all dogs to be on their best behavior, and if your dog shows aggression or attacks another racer or human, you'll be disqualified and asked to leave the premises immediately.
