The 27th annual Buda Wiener Dog Races will take over the Buda Amphitheater and City Park for the whole weekend.

This over-25-year-old Central Texas wiener dog race is a fan favorite, with folks from across the state flocking to Buda to see the short and long four-legged friends dash to the finish line.

Gates open at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, so plan to get there early to soak in the excitement.

The first wiener dog race is set for 10 a.m. and the second set of races take off at 2 p.m., with mixed-breed dachshund races starting at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

An IBCA-sanctioned barbecue cook-off will happen on Saturday, and people who are waiting for races will get a chance to explore arts, crafts, and food vendors.

Live music will be happening on both days, with a lineup that includes DJ Jimmy Z, Mariachi Classico, and the Rockaroni and Cheese Band.
